State of the Wedding Industry
The wedding industry has evolved a great deal in the last 10 years. That doesn't mean it's all good. In this blog I hope to share my opinion with other professionals in the industry ( photographers that actually make a living from wedding or commercial photography) and of course our clients and the general public.
PART I
I've been talking to people in the industry over the course of the last year, eager to get their opinions and their thoughts about the state of this industry. Unfortunately not all of it is good. Allthough most of the professionals ( and I'll get to the meaning of that word as it relates to the wedding industry ) enjoy what they do and dealing with the various people, others
simply have a total disregard and are completely unethical towards the industry and clients, simply looking at a way to make a quick dollar and in turn giving the industry or various areas of the industry a bad rap.
Whenever the industry is in the spotlight, it's made to seem so glamorous and in many ways it is very special and beautiful.
It's a billion dollar industry as it's advertised across North America and the world and this is penetrating into the general public in a much bigger way than before. ie. more wedding magazines, more internet sites devoted to weddings, more photographers, more videographers, more wedding planners, more caterers, more more more........ You get the idea.
Well, let's all join the billion dollar party! Like all parties, they all start out very well, but when at some point people begin to drink and start becoming roudy and disrespectful, the party starts to take a turn for the worst, until these people are asked to be more cooperative or leave or in extreme cases, thrown out.
Now take the industry at large as one big beautiful party with suddenly all these wedding crashers coming to the party for a good time and of course free liquor and food. We all know the eventual outcome of this scenario. The party continues, but has been somewhat tarnished by these events. Again, you all get the idea.
Please tell me how you feel about the wedding industry and how it's changed. This part of the blog is intended more for the people in the industry or professionals in the industry, ( which reminds me, I was suppose to describe what a professional is at the beginning of this paragraph as is relates to the industry) Well, here it is.
A wedding industry professional is someone with thorough knowledge of their business, experience, has good people skills and is dedicated one hundred percent to making sure their client's have the best experience possible in this once in a lifetime event.
Part II will get more into the nitty gritty of the wedding industry and I would like to involve the general public and their experiences.
Cheers!
